Advisers Give Back

However you found us

The most useful thing you can do is tell someone.

We pair working families with CFP® professionals who plan with them for free. Most people have never heard of us, and that is the whole problem. Nothing on this page needs an account, a sign-up, or permission from us. Take what is useful and use it.

Three things that help, in order

They are not equal. The first is worth more than the other two together, because it reaches the person who needs it rather than the crowd who might.

  1. 01

Tell one person who needs it

Someone paying off a parent’s care, someone newly on their own, someone who says they should really sort out their pension. Not a broadcast. One person, by name, who would never pay for time with a planner and has never been offered any.

  2. 02

Tell an organization that already has their trust

A library, a union local, a community college, an employer’s HR team, a food bank, a church. They reach the people we cannot, and one introduction there is worth a hundred posts.

  3. 03

Say it publicly, once, where you work

A post, or a line in an internal newsletter. Lowest yield of the three, and worth doing anyway because it is how CFP® professionals hear that we exist and come to volunteer.

Something to send

Written to be edited. It will sound better in your own words than in ours, and it will work better coming from you than from us.

The facts, if you need them

Use these rather than your own estimate. The counts come straight from our impact dashboard and update on their own, so they are right on the day you send them.

Something to hand over, or put on a wall

Three things you can download and use as they are. All AGB-branded, none of them co-branded with anyone, so there is nothing to clear with us first.

A few things to get right

You are not signing anything and you are not speaking for us. These are here because getting them wrong would cost someone who trusted you, which matters more than the introduction was worth.

Do

  • Say it is free, with nothing sold. That is the part nobody believes, so say it first and say it plainly.
  • Send them to the sign-up page. Let them decide in their own time, without you in the middle of it.
  • Say you are a volunteer if anyone asks how you are involved.

Don’t

  • Give financial advice. Not even the obvious answer, and not casually. It is the one thing that turns a kindness into a liability, for you as much as for us.
  • Promise an outcome, a timeframe, or a particular adviser. We match on availability, and we cannot promise when.
  • Collect anyone’s details to pass on. No documents, no account numbers, nothing written down. The way in is the sign-up page, not you.
  • Describe yourself as an AGB adviser or representative.
