What happens before, during and after a meeting.
Before
Your adviser reads your sign-up answers, including your top goal in your own words, so you don’t start from scratch.
During
One-on-one, by phone. Your adviser works through your goals with you and helps you choose a few first steps.
After
Your next steps wait in your dashboard, with email and text reminders, and you can meet again whenever it’s useful.

Questions people ask first.
Who are the advisers?
Volunteer financial advisers, and every one is a fiduciary. That means they must put your interests first: give you advice that fits your situation, and never sell you anything. Before anyone can book an adviser, we check their credentials and their public record with regulators.
How can this be free?
Advisers volunteer their time. Donations and our partners pay for the rest: finding people who want help, checking advisers, and the private phone line. There’s nothing to buy, ever.
What can I get help with?
Paying down debt, saving for emergencies, or a big step like buying a home. Bring any money question.
What if my finances are a mess?
Then you’re in the right place. Your adviser starts where you are.
Can I meet more than once?
Yes. You can meet as often as you both find useful.
Can my adviser speak my language, or share my background?
You can ask for that when you sign up. We have a limited number of advisers who can, so we can’t always promise a match.
Who can sign up?
You can sign up if your household earns under $100,000 a year, or $150,000 for a couple, and your savings are under $250,000. You don’t need a job, and you can start with little or nothing saved.
Is my information private?
We never sell your information. Your adviser calls you through our line, so they never see your phone number. Read our privacy policy.
